ITT PILATES Mat Training

The ITT Pilates Mat Instructor Program provides a thorough knowledge and understanding of the Pilates Mat repertoire. The program includes more than 60 Pilates Mat exercises, from beginner to advanced levels, with detailed instruction in how to modify or vary the exercises for a wide range of clients. Learn to design dynamic Mat group classes and individual workouts for private sessions or client home programs.

Requirements for completion:

  • Anatomy & Core Dynamics 

  • Essential Exercises 

  • Mat Level 1 

  • Mat Level 2

  • 20 hours self practice 

  • 25 hours student teaching

  • 15 hours observation

  • Final written and practical exam

Prerequisites: 10 Mat Classes and 5 private sessions, Anatomy & Core Dynamics, Essential Exercises.

Mat training is where we lay the foundation of the Pilates method. We cover the history and 6 principles of the Pilates method and the beginner to intermediate/advanced Mat exercises. Each exercise is thoroughly broken down to give you modifications and progressions, the purpose and goal of the exercise and how to see faulty movement patterns. You will learn how to integrate the ITT Pilates Essential Exercises into all Mat exercises.We provide you with the skills to coach all types of individuals with insightful cues. Develop excellent teaching skills and the confidence to become employed as a Pilates Mat instructor.

Course Objectives

  • Teach the underlying principles of Pilates in an affordable setting

  • Teach group classes or private instruction to a wide range of individuals

  • Tailor exercises to each students learning ability and level

  • Provide safe and effective exercises for all ages and body types

​Once all course work and student practice hours are completed,  Students may arrange with an ITT Educator to take the final written and practical exam.
