ITT PILATES Mat & Reformer Training

Learn the fundamentals of Pilates in our Mat Instructor Training Program and then build on it! Learn how to instruct full body exercises on the Reformer for dynamic movement and motor control. The Reformer, developed by Joseph Pilates, is a versatile piece of equipment for a wide variety of applications from fitness to rehabilitation.

Requirements for completion:

  • Anatomy & Core Dynamics 

  • Essential Exercises

  • Mat Level 1 and 2 

  • Reformer Level 1 and 2

  • Teaching Labs 

  • 50 hours of self practice 

  • 55 hours of practice teaching

  • 25 observation hours

  • 3 apprentice teaching hours

  • A written and practical Final exam 

Total hours for completion: 220 hours

Prerequisites: 10 Mat classes and 5 privates, 10 Reformer private sessions or 20 Reformer group classes, Anatomy & Core Dynamics, Essential Exercises.

Our combined Mat & Reformer Program gives you the best of both worlds. You learn the full Pilates Mat repertoire and the full Reformer repertoire in one training. Design individual sessions or group classes using a full spectrum of exercises to develop functional, efficient movement patterns in your clients. Learn how to teach beginner to intermediate/advanced level exercises with flow using the ITT Pilates class format. Create specific programs for all individuals from older adults, athletes, those with postural imbalances, common orthopedic conditions, and more. The ITT Pilates method includes dynamic assessments, insightful verbal and tactile cueing, and program design to correct impaired movement patterns. 

ITT Pilates gives you the skills and tools to see, sense, and create change in your client’s bodies.

Course Objectives

  • Teach safe and progressive Mat & Reformer workouts to a wide range of individuals

  • Know how to integrate the ITT Pilates Essential Exercises into your sessions to enhance movement performance

  • Be able to see and address muscle imbalances and dysfunctional movement patterns 

  • Design creative full body workouts, using the floor and equipment, that develop core strength, flexibility, balance, and functional movement patterns. 

Once all course work and student practice hours are completed,  students may arrange with an ITT Educator to take the final written and practical exam.
